I'm so glad I have the chance to give a friend, Joshua Wong, who share the same ideology with me a welcome. His biography can be found on the internet, in Wikipedia and so on. Here though I will talk about:
Actually this Saturday we, our student friends and I, were going to take him to Ayutthaya. To visit our historical monuments. Then we would have taken him to watch a theatrical drama about October 6th at Pridi Panomyong Institute. And also we would have taken you, Joshua, to communities and organizations that involves in Democracy, Environment, and community rights movement. To show you, Joshua, that our country has courteous, genial and lovely people.
We thought our government would have given more freedom to people. Especially you, Joshua. You could have visited and given speech at Political Science faculty at Chulalongkorn University. We thought there would be no problem, that the people would understand and see the importance of sharing thoughts, knowledge, and ideology. It was just a dream though. From the time I went to Hong Kong to visit you with hopes and dreams. It has turned to disappointment and sorrow. You, Joshua, you were detained for 13 hours. You couldn't even contact you parents or lawyer.
When they decided that you aren't allowed in this country. We were all sad and disappointed. We had to accept the situation of this country. And our future that they don't want to stop intervening. We must say we are sorry for what you went through. We did not expect it would turn out this way. Actually they did the same again and again. They don't realize it's a mistake. We have to say though.
Thank you for accepting our invitation. Even if your friends were worried and didn't want you to visit. Because there would be danger and you would be at risk, because our country doesn't understand about the interest of state in other dimension except the power of the authority. You, Joshua, received our invitation and wanted to come here and exchange thoughts. And to learn more about us students in Thailand. And to learn more about us students in Thailand. Even when you had to go back to Hong Kong, you still accepted our request to talk to you via Skype, even if you aren't allowed to talk about something that you may want to.
You are the inspiration. Your voice, your thought, and your action have proven that the power that looks stable is hiding fear and ego. I hope we will talk again in the future. 'Political for the new generation" ideology might still be a little bit hopeless. But today we are trying to achieve that goal. This speech will be recorded and remembered as a part of the history of society that new generation can decide our own direction, our own future.
